1. MOAJE ETUDES - "Swing" and "Latin"
Winds should perform the "Swing" and "Latin" etudes with the rhythm section MP3 accompaniment.
Rhythm section instruments should be prepared to perform with MP3 accompaniment with their track muted on the recording.

2. IMPROVISATION - "Cantaloupe Island" and "Now Hear This!"
In addition to the Swing and Latin etudes, auditions will also include "Cantaloupe Island" from Approaching the Standards, Vol. 1 by Dr. Willie Hill and "Now Hear This!" (C Blues) from Blues in All Keys, Vol. 42 by Jamey Aebersold. Purchase the "Blues in All Keys, Vol. 42" book HERE. Purchase the "Approaching the Standards, Vol. 1" books HERE.
Winds will be required to play the melody and improvise a minimum of one chorus on "Cantaloupe Island" and "Now Hear This!".
Piano, Bass, Guitar, Vibes, and Drums will play the melody first chorus, comp or walk second chorus, and improvise third chorus on "Cantaloupe Island" and "Now Hear This!".
3. Required Drum Set Styles (Drums Only)
Drums should be able to demonstrate a variety of styles including Shuffle, Samba, Bossa, Jazz Waltz, and Funk as listed HERE.
All-State Jazz call back auditions will include sight reading.
No scales required.
